GP Nutritionist Dr Jackie Rose

As a family doctor, I’ve witnessed first hand the rise in chronic conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes, which research now clearly shows to be related to diet and lifestyle, not merely genetics. It’s something about which I’ve grown increasingly concerned and motivated to help address.

On my blog, I’ll be giving you information about how what you eat can help you stay healthy, reduce your risk of infection and underlying health conditions, and guard against other common diseases like cancer and dementia. You’ll also find guidance on how to achieve and maintain a healthy weight and good mental health and why I consider sugar to be behind many illnesses of modern life.

I’ve spent years reading articles, research papers and books on nutrition. That said, this is not a precise science. Even the most rigorous research often relies on questionnaires in which participants are asked to recall the details of their diet from days or weeks previously. What they eat needs to be tracked over many years to see the impact on their health, and even then, it can be hard to prove cause and effect.

New discoveries are being made all the time, so this cannot be a definitive guide. I have tried to make the best sense of the research as it currently stands and, I hope, help you and your family to lead long and healthy lives.
